13 Candidates Qualify To Vie For President in 2024 Polls, 11 Disqualified – EC
The 2024 presidential election is shaping up to be a keenly contested affair after the Electoral Commission of Ghana successfully cleared thirteen presidential candidates who filed for their nominations to run for the seat of the highest office.
11 other Presidential Aspirants, however, failed to meet the threshold of qualification.
Notable among the names that sailed through are the flagbearers of the two major political parties, John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party. others are Independent candidates for the movement for change, John Alan Kyeremanten, Christian Kwabena Andrews of the Ghana Union Movement, and Nana Kwame Bediako of the New Force, who is vying for President as an independent candidate.
Others, who filed but failed to pass through are Bernard Mornah of the People’s National Convention (PNC) and Janet Nabla of the People’s National Party (PNP) from contesting in the December 7, 2024, presidential elections.
Other presidential candidates disqualified by the EC include Nana Stephens Adjepong, Paul Perkoh, James Kwesi Oppong, John Enyonam Kwakwu Kpikpi, Dr Samuel Sampong Ankrah and Nii Amu Darko,
The rest are Samuel Apea-Danquah, Desmond Abrefah, and Kofi Asamoah Siaw (Progressive People’s Party).
