12 Rescued, 7 Missing As Boat Capsizes On Volta Lake
The Ada East District NADMO Coordinator, Ebenezer Teye Kisseh Nartey has confirmed that about seven(7) fishermen are reportedly missing in the Volta Lake at Ada.
According to the Ada East District NADMO Coordinator who confirmed the incident to Wohonsem.com, he indicated that two fishing boats carrying a total of nineteen(19) fishermen got capsized Thursday morning around 7am in the estuary whilst trying to enter the Volta River.
He confirmed the first boat named ‘Shalom’ carried 11 people out of which 10 were saved and 1 missing. The second boat nicknamed ‘Barcelona’ also had 8 onboard and only 2 were saved leaving 6 missing.
He said all the 12 people rescued are safe and sound with no hospitalization.
He said a team from the Eastern Naval Command of the Ghana Navy in collaboration with the NADMO has embarked on a search and rescue mission for the missing 7.
