Chelsea superstar Sam Kerr has signed a new contract with the Women’s Super League champions, despite a bizarre announcement suggesting she’d leave.

On Thursday morning, the Blues posted a video on social media in which Kerr appeared to be bidding an emotional goodbye to the London club. However, that video was followed shortly by the confirmation that the Australian forward has signed a new contract.

Kerr has now committed to a new deal that runs until 2026, with the attacker saying: “It’s really exciting and a very proud moment for me. Having the opportunity to stay at a club like Chelsea means a lot to me. I’m really excited to continue to push and to try to win trophies.”
