Angola coach Pedro Goncalves expressed disappointment with the state of the pitch at the Baba Yara Stadium following his team’s 1-0 victory over Ghana.

The match, part of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, highlighted the severe condition of the playing surface, which both teams struggled to cope with.

Speaking after the game, Goncalves remarked, “A country like Ghana deserves a better pitch.”

His comments come amid growing criticism of the stadium’s condition, which has been widely criticized by fans and players alike.

The poor pitch contributed to a difficult game, where Angola secured their win in the dying moments, thanks to a mistake by Ghana’s Abdul Mumin.

Despite Ghana’s dominance in possession, the match ended in disappointment for the Black Stars, who now face an uphill battle in their AFCON qualifying campaign.

Angola will play Sudan who beat Niger in their next game while Ghana face Niger.
