Effia Nkwanta: Prez Akufo-Addo’s damaged statue repaired
The damaged section of President Akufo-Addo’s statue at the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital in Sekondi has been repaired, restoring the monument to its original condition.
Unveiled on November 6 to honour the president, the statue had a noticeable gaping hole at the back of one of its legs.
While the exact cause of the damage remains unclear, there has been speculation that it was the result of deliberate vandalism, following earlier threats from some residents to remove the statue. Others believe it could have been a structural defect.
Many residents of Sekondi have called for the statue’s removal, citing unfinished projects in the region, such as the Takoradi Market Circle, the PTC roundabout three-tier interchange, and the dualization of the Sekondi-Takoradi road.
