Election 2024: NDC demands live broadcast of meeting with EC on voters’ register

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is demanding a live broadcast of its meeting with the Electoral Commission (EC) to discuss findings and observations contained in the Provisional Voters Register (PVR) for the upcoming December 7 general elections.

General Secretary of the NDC, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, in a letter to the EC said a live broadcast of the meeting will ensure transparency of the engagement.

A similar letter was written on Tuesday, August 27, demanding an arrangement of this said meeting, which the NDC said is meant to “discuss very serious discrepancies discovered during the ongoing 2024 voter exhibition exercise. The discrepancies emanate from analysis of the Provisional Voter Register (PVR) given to us by the Commission, and registers being exhibited at the centres.”

The NDC and other groups raised concerns with some discrepancies they said were discovered when the voters’ register was exhibited between Tuesday, August 20, to Tuesday, August 27.

REQUEST FOR LIVE BROADCAST OF PRESENTATION OF OBSERVATIONS FOUND IN PVR 2024

I bring you greetings from the NDC Party Headquarters, Accra and trust that this letter finds you well.

In connection with the upcoming meeting with your team slated for Friday, 6th September 2024, we request for a live broadcast of our presentation of observations found in the Provisional Voters Register (PVR) to your team. This, we believe, will give true meaning to transparency as found in your motto.

We anticipate your usual attention and co-operation.
