Oti Region: Police, military deployed to Nkwanta after deadly clashes
The government has deployed a combined team of Police and Military personnel to Nkwanta in the Oti Region to restore order following deadly clashes believed to have stemmed from a chieftaincy dispute.
The violence, which erupted on Wednesday, January 15, and continued into the night of Thursday, January 16, has left three people dead and several others injured.
Residents are living in fear as the situation remains tense, with reports of sporadic gunfire from unidentified individuals.
Government spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu confirmed that security forces were initially dispatched last night to help restore calm, and additional troops will be sent today to enforce law and order in the area.
