Police arrest 44 Cameroonians implicated in alleged Q-NET scam
The Ghana Police Service has arrested a 29-year-old Cameroonian national, Bella Merie, along with 43 other Cameroonians, in connection with a suspected internet fraud and human trafficking operation at a residence in Kenyasi Abrem, located in the Ashanti Region.
In a statement issued by the Head of the Public Affairs Unit of the Ashanti Regional Police Command, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Godwin Ahianyo, it was revealed that preliminary investigations indicated Bella Merie collected a total of 4,500,000 CFA francs from the victims—comprising 32 males and 11 females—under the guise of providing employment opportunities in Ghana.
He stated that all the individuals involved, including both the suspect and the victims, are between the ages of 22 and 38. They have since been handed over to the Ghana Immigration Service at the Regional Headquarters to undergo the necessary immigration processes for repatriation to Cameroon.
