You’ll hear my position on Free SHS when you stop sleeping – Mahama tells Akufo-Addo
John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has strongly criticized President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo regarding the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy.
President Akufo-Addo had previously challenged Mahama to clarify his stance on key national issues, including the Free SHS policy.
However, during an address to supporters in Ningo Prampram on Thursday, Mahama rebuked the president, stating that he had repeatedly expressed his views on the Free SHS policy and the galamsey (illegal mining) crisis.
Mahama suggested that the president was either not listening or deliberately ignoring his positions on these crucial matters, which were already well-known and publicized.
He emphasized that his views on both the Free SHS policy and the galamsey menace, which continues to devastate parts of the country, had been made clear on numerous occasions.
Mahama noted, “When you stop sleeping, you’ll hear clearly my position on Free SHS.”
“I have made it clear that there are implementation problems with the Free SHS because there is no dedicated source of funding, parents are also not happy with the double track system, also the quality of food the children are being given is not good, and so I have said that the NDC is coming to power and fix these three things.”
